How to format text on a page so that it is read?
In order not to waste money, time and nerves spent on working with a copywriter, the text should be formatted so that it is tempting to read. How to do this?
Writing texts for a website is a short-term and far-off, not free process. Often on websites you can find sheets of text with 9,000-10,000 characters, which makes you want to quickly close the page and at least a drop of something for the dizziness. There is definitely no desire to read all this.
There are several rules that are recommended to be followed.
No need to “cover” the page
A complex text without paragraphs is a rule against readers. Structure the text according to the principle of “1 topic – 1 paragraph”. Do not neglect lists, use headings, group information by meaning.
Remove all unnecessary
A website is not a personal diary or an essay on the topic “What is the meaning of life?”. Brevity, conciseness and clarity are the main principles that should be used when writing a text or compiling a technical task for a copywriter. No fluff, flowery phrases and inappropriate allegories. Write only on the subject. This is especially true for headings.

Speaking of subheadings
According to statistics, if a user reads something on a page, they are the first ones to read. Structuring the text is necessary because we first read the larger text, then the medium one, and only then, if we are lucky, what is under the asterisk. Therefore, the headings should be concise, meaningful and must be added according to the size (and/or color) of the font from the main text.
Place emphasis
If you want to particularly interest the user in a specific part of the text, use visual accents so that the eye has something to catch on: icons, images, inserts with comments or screenshots, etc.
Simplify navigation
If you can’t get away from a long text, and its volume is really justified, be sure to leave the content at the beginning of the page, placing links to each of the sub-items of the article.
Where would we be without pictures
There are often cases when the text is not read at all, but pictures are studied. This largely depends on the subject of the site, but the quality and meaning of the image are always appropriate and help to convey your idea, sometimes even better than 3 paragraphs of text. And you can be corrected precisely thanks to successful illustrations.
Use space effectively
When laying out a page, arrange elements and part of the text not under each other (sometimes readers have a long time to scroll during the pandemic), but in parallel – save space on the page and effectively present the information.
Play with lists
They are necessary and important for structuring the text. A list of 10 items is more pleasant to read when there are visual anchors – markers, thematic icons, etc.
It should be comfortable to read
Be sure to pay attention to the quality of the font chosen for the text. Convenient for reading with a screen size of 18-19 pixels.
The line spacing should be such that it is clear where one paragraph ends and another begins (usually the proportions are 3 to 1 in relation to the font size).

And of course, the font should be a contrasting background! Not a single user, even a very interested one, will read gray on white or red on dark blue.
